To create a sustainable, year-round, branded online and offline entertainment platform, building credibility for Nokia’s music and entertainment offerings and supporting markets which need to drive youth brands preferences. Ultimately, to drive awareness and sales of Nokia Handset Devices while pushing the technological capabilities of the mobile device itself.
Thisisarobot created Nokia Trends Lab as a physical and virtual hub of mobility experience. Thisisarobot and Nokia enlisted the help of many well-established artists to mentor up and coming young talent and, together, push the technological and creative boundaries of Nokia’s mobile devices. The artists were also commissioned to create custom content teasers that were distributed throughout various digital channels.
Experiments were divided into four creative categories: Music Lab, Film Lab, Photo Lab, Design Lab. Experiments created during live sessions, in selected locations, and combines with on-stage artist performances.
The outcome of the labs were then showcased to the crowd at the end of each event, allowing people to directly participate in Nokia Trends Lab’s multimedia celebration. Online users followed the events, offered comments on the experiments, and for to know more about the artists involved by browsing through hours of unique content.
Mentor artists included Justice, Mya, Santigold, LCD Soundsystem, Audio Bully, Tiga, Calvin Harris, Josh Wink, DJ Shadow, The Ronin, Maurius Watz, Hellohikimori, New Young Pony Club, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Booka Shade, Shitdisco, Shameboy, CMon & Kypski among others.

Thousands of people attended the Offline events that were held in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Ukraine, Finland, The Alps Region, Lithuania, Germany, Ireland, Russia, Greece and Italy. The experiments created with mentor artists were showcased online providing hours of unique content.
